Quality Assurance in Vacuum Forming: How We Ensure Every Part Meets the Standard

Quality assurance in vacuum forming is not a single action at the end of the production process — it is a discipline that runs through every stage, from material receipt to final despatch. At Jabro Games, our approach to quality is built into our process rather than bolted on as an afterthought, and we want our clients to understand exactly how we ensure that every part we produce meets the agreed standard.

Material Incoming Inspection

Every batch of thermoplastic sheet is inspected on arrival against the material specification. Sheet thickness, material grade, colour, and surface quality are verified before the material enters production. Substandard material is rejected before it reaches the forming machine — preventing quality issues that can be difficult or impossible to detect in the finished part.

First-Off Approval

The first part produced from any tool — or from any new production run — is subject to a detailed dimensional check against the agreed drawing or specification. Critical dimensions are measured and recorded. Surface quality, draft release, and trimming accuracy are assessed. Only once the first-off has been formally approved does full production proceed.

In-Process Monitoring

During production, key process parameters — forming temperature, vacuum pressure, cooling time, and cycle time — are monitored and controlled. Regular in-process checks on formed parts identify any drift in quality before it affects a significant proportion of the batch. Statistical process control principles are applied to identify and address sources of variation.

Final Inspection and Batch Release

Prior to despatch, a sample from each production batch is subject to a final dimensional and visual inspection. Parts that do not meet the agreed specification are rejected and, where possible, root cause analysis is carried out to prevent recurrence. Batch release documentation accompanies every order, confirming that the parts have been inspected and meet the agreed standard.
